Graduate of Michigan Technological University, 1973 with Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Currently registered as a Professional Engineer in Michigan. Member of the American Water Works Association, National Society of Professional Engineers. Certified Construction Site Storm Water Operator in the State of Michigan.
 
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Engaged in consulting engineering work for 32 years in all phases of projects engineering for various sized commercial, industrial, and residential projects for both public and private clients. While working for a consulting firm in the Chicago area, was the engineer responsible for topographic surveying, construction layout, and inspection of streets, watermain, storm and sanitary sewer construction for large (100+acres) residential subdivisions and industrial parks. Since joining Merritt Engineering, Inc. in 1982, has been engaged as design and project engineer for a number of utility projects (watermain, sanitary sewer, streets, storm drains, etc.) mainly for public usage. Has overseen the planning, design and construction of a number of residential subdivisions, mobile home parks, condominium developments, and industrial parks for private and municipal clients throughout Southwestern Michigan.

Currently registered as a Professional Engineer in Michigan, member of the National Society of Professional Engineer, Michigan Society of Professional Engineers. Graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2006. Passed the FE/EIT exam in 2005.
 
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Five years of construction design, layout, observation and related civil engineering services working with Merritt Engineering, Inc. while attending high school and college. Current responsibilities, since receiving his degree include: topographic surveying, field staking, layout and inspection of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, watermain and roadways. Current responsibilities include construction services, as well as site plan and public utility design under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer.

JAMES H. PODJAN II
Field Technician / Resident Project Representative
 
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of Saint Joseph High School and attended Lake Michigan College.
 
WORK EXPERIENCE:
More than ten years of construction layout and observation, and related civil engineering services. Responsibilities include: field staking and grading procedures in the construction of roads, sanitary sewer, watermain and storm sewer; inspection procedures for sanitary sewer, watermain and forcemain installation and testing, as well as topographic survey work. Setup and installation of monitoring equipment for sewer and water facilities. Experience with federally funded projects includes: Third Street and Bell Avenue reconstruction in Niles Township; Mall Drive reconstruction in Benton Charter Township; John Beers Road reconstruction in the Village of Stevensville; and Kruger Road Watermain, New Buffalo Township.
